I’m definitely a countryside-over-poolside, skiing-over-sunbathing, family BBQ-over-fancy bistro kinda girl. Basically I’d rather be having a laugh and going on adventures than quietly behaving myself!
As a wedding photographer I’m a blend of super-relaxed and secretly hyper-organised. Floating with an easy-going, swan-like calm through your wedding day, making friends with your grandad, fussing over the dog and becoming part of the family. Whilst my little feet paddle like mad beneath the surface, making sure everything goes to plan and capturing all the natural moments in a warm, colourful way. For a wedding day that feels effortless, and wedding photography that radiates colour, laughter and love.
The last thing I want is for you to feel like I’ve been pulling you from pillar to post all day. Because your wedding day will be the most wonderful, emotional, exciting day of your lives. And I want to be a part of all that fun and excitement, not get in the way of it.
So for the most part, my approach is very relaxed, documentary and unobtrusive. I want to let your day unfold naturally, and capture all those romantic little looks, the belly-laughs with family and the heartfelt hugs that make your wedding day the unforgettable day it is.
But I don’t want to shrink into the background and become that weird outsider. Because it’s impossible to fully relax around a stranger with a camera! So whilst I like to capture the unposed, natural, spontaneous moments, I also want to be one of the family and an integral part of your day. So you don’t have to feel awkward or self-conscious around me. You can feel safe and comfortable, and free to enjoy your day as you.
Emily has been absolutely fantastic, from our first chat with her all the way to our wedding and after. So so so friendly, professional and kind, she managed to make me and my husband (both super un photogenic) feel so at ease and comfortable. Emily did an incredible job at capturing the atmosphere and perfection of our day, the photos really are more than I could ever have asked for or imagined. All our guests also commented on how great she was at taking beautiful photos and how accommodating she was to requests and changed that happened throughout the day. Thank you Emily you captured our day perfectly. We can’t wait to book some mini shoots with you now we have a new addition! My partner and I got married during the pandemic and so we had a very small wedding day. We didn’t want to feel like posing for photos was a chore or imposing on our day too much seeing as it was very intimate. Emily Collett Photography was the obvious and perfect choice for us. We both love her style of editing - always bringing out the most beautiful colours in her photos. Emily blended in with the day so well and organised all our photos seamlessly without us really having to think about it. She got everyone organised and made it all feel fun and not at all like we were being ordered around which sometimes wedding can feel a bit like! She also got them back to us so fast, and we were overjoyed when we sat and went through them. They just captured the day exactly how we remembered it and we are in love with the way she makes all the right colours pop - like my yellow shoes and the autumn leaves!
My partner and I did a couples shoot with Emily, something completely out of our normal comfort zone. We walked away from the shoot having had the most wonderful time, the three of us had laughed constantly and we could not be happier with the final results! We would whole heartedly recommend Emily to anyone looking for a kind and lovely photographer that will put you at ease, she was really able to put our nerves at ease and engaged with us to pull the best out of us.
